This beautiful fish can go in a swim or reef aquarium of 50 gallons or larger. The Marine Beta is peaceful but will eat shrimp and small fish.
It is nocturnal, but owners will be rewarded as it becomes more active in the evening, particularly at feeding time and when lights are turned down. As with some other predators, it can take some effort to get this fish to eat when first purchased.
Feeder shrimp or fish can be used to entice the Beta to eat. Once they are feeding on meaty frozen foods, I like to gut load them every three days or so.
